Description
Archaeology, Shetland sites. Burnt Mound, Cullingsburgh. Cattle in distance. Heat shattered stones covered by turf beside a burn. Bronze Age Burnt mounds are usually crescent shaped and might have a box of stone slabs visable in the centre. Burnt mounds were usually well away from houses. Over 300 can be found on Shetland.
